Circular: Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle among school students

CIRCULAR FOR  PROMOTING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AMONG SCHOOL STUDENTS

Dear Parents,                                                                                                              7 Nov 2014

A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The health of our children has always been of prime concern . Our school believes in promoting healthy eating habits and integrating nutrition with curricular and co curricular activities. We are committed to adopting a healthy lifestyle for our students and we encourage them to avoid  junk food and consume a healthy diet.

Continuing with our efforts to sensitize the students as well as the parents, we would like to foster a school environment that creates a better understanding of diabetes. ‘KiDS and Diabetes in School’ (KiDS)  is a project being conducted by  HRIDAY ( Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth), the Public Health Foundation of  India in collaboration with AIIMS(All India Institute of Medical sciences)and IDF (International Diabetes Federation).

The aim of this programme is to bring about awareness about diabetes in young children and supporting children with diabetes to participate fully in school life. As a part of this project an ‘Indian school Diabetes Informative Manual’  has been developed to share information with  students as well as parents, the content of  which is culturally and contextually adapted. Click here to view the Manual.

To support this collective endeavour  to promote health among youth,  a ”Healthy Breakfast recipe Contest” is being organized by HRIDAY. The guidelines for the contest are attached. Click here to view the guidelines.

The last date for the Healthy Breakfast recipe Contest has been extended to 11 Nov 2014.

Lets join hands to promote a  healthy future for our children !

Warm Regards

Deepa R Krishnan
