As part of the commemorative events, on the eve of the centenary of the Battle of Neuve Chapple in which maximum Indian soldiers were martyred , The Air Force School students along with the  teachers went to witness the commemoration of the World War I on 19 March,2015. The highlight was an exhibition at Manekshaw centre in which the moments and conditions of World War I had been recreated.

The Corner of Remembrance in the exhibition had old letters , an old home in neglect with belongingness of soldiers , giving a feeling of anxiousness of the family waiting for their sons to return home while the Sacrifice Hall included replicas of Amar Jawan Jyoti , Indian memorials , busts and paintings of Victorian Cross winners in India and Abroad.

The Army also created a replica of World War I showcasing the living conditions of workers then. It also illustrated the gallantry and sacrifice of Indian soldiers in the First World War. It rejuvenated the participation and valour of Indian soldiers in various battlefields of this war across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience which made  the tafsians proud of the soldiers who relinquished their lives and made India a safe country to live in.

SOCIAL STUDIES EXHIBITION IN JUNIOR WING  (21 MARCH 2015)

The Junior Wing organized a Social Science exhibition titled ‘Beyond Boundaries’ on 21 March 2015 on the Open House Day.  The exhibition covered the topics from Social Science and EVS syllabus of the Junior classes. The exhibits on  the Prairies of USA, the desert of Saudi Arabia ,Congo, Polar Regions and  the pyramids of Egypt included 3-D models and art & craft work of the students. Apart from that there were also exhibits of famous  Indians  from different walks of life, who have been showing us the way for centuries and an exclusive corner for Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation.

True to the essence of Social Sciences, each exhibit projected a value for the society.  Students dressed up as cowboys, a gypsy as a fortune teller, Sheikh, and  African tribals  interacted with the visitors. The African concept of ‘Ubuntu’ meaning ‘I am because we are’ was shared with all .  Many students as well as parents tried out their mapping skills on the India and World puzzles. The Egyptian Sphinx, pyramids, sand dunes, oasis, kayak, icebergs, eskimo, fishes , penguins, saddled horse for cowboys, products made of wheat, corn and wheat farm in a pot, etc  attracted not only children but also their parents. It was a wonderful learning experience for everyone.
