Annual Prize Distribution-Classes VI, VII & VIII

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

CLASSES - VI, VII, VIII

The first round of Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 09 May 2015 in the Aravali Hall. Students of VI, VII & VIII scoring CGPA-10 were awarded prizes. A total of 51 students received their prizes from Mrs Shubhada Bhagwat. Three special cash prizes were given away by our esteemed Chairman Air Cmde HN Bhagwat VM for a poster competition on Food Safety organized by Station Medicare centre HQ WAC (U) AF.

The programme started with lighting of the lamp & reciting of shlokas. A Group Song composed by Mr AN Roy & directed by Mr Atul & Mr Rohit set the tone of the programme. A beautiful dance directed by Mrs Smriti Shahji made the audience gasp in wonder. This was followed by a film depicting 60 wonderful year showcasing TAFS & its journey through these years.

Principal Mrs Deepika Thapar Singh gave the welcome address, Air Cmde HN Bhagwat Chairman AF schools motivated the students with his speech. He spoke of the need to respect our heroes. He asked the students to shun the negativity existing in their surroundings & inculcate a positive approach in life.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks given by the Vice Principal Mrs Amita Gupta. The entire gathering stood to sing the National Anthem with pride.

    Visit to National Gallery of Modern Art

    VISIT TO NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART

    The heritage club organized an educational trip to National Gallery of Modern Art near India Gate, New Delhi on 8th May 2015.

    Around 55 students of classes IX & X, members of heritage club went on the trip to the national gallery of modern art.

    The Museum showcase master pieces of the changing art forms of modern India spanning more than one hundred and fifty years.

    The visit was informative and students carried various memories on the way back.

      VISIT TO THE OXFORD BOOK HOUSE

      The Literati Club organized an educational cum fun trip to THE OXFORD BOOK HOUSE in Connaught Place, New Delhi, on 30 April 2015.  

      Around 51 students of classes IX and X, members of the Literati club went on the trip to the bookstore.

      The bookstore has a variety of books to offer, ranging from Bestsellers, novels, reference books, encyclopedias, along with a special section for kids.

      The ambience, the attractive low placed round sofas and a tempting ware being offered by the cha-shop, not to mention over 100 delightful tea flavors from all over the world, lend the bookstore a very ethnic touch.

      Browsing through the favorites over a subtly flavored tea cup makes it simple to understand why the bookstore is a veritable delight for any reader.

        Mission Aavishkaar 2015

         TIARA (TAFS Innovators and Researchers Association) - the Science Club of The Air Force School  aims at enhancing the scientific aptitude amongst  students and   to help them  to conceptualize  their innovative ideas in the field of science.

        ‘MISSION AAVISHKAAR‘    is an Inter School Science Competition launched by TIARA and is  organized every year    to provide a platform for  the budding scientists   to showcase their   talent and interest  in science. The  theme   for this year was:

                   “Let your Mind Be Spoken As Ideas Control the World”

          “MISSION AAVISHKAAR 2015” was organized on 2nd May 2015 in the school premises.

        The registration started at sharp 8 AM. The schools had been pre allotted numbers to facilitate the registration process and five different registration tables were set up to expedite the registration.  Each school team comprised of seven members and an accompanying teacher. The students were brimming with enthusiasm to exhibit their scientific zeal and portray their talents. They were carrying models and supporting material with them. The alert and active volunteers of TAFS escorted the teams with accompanying teachers to the Aravali Hall for the inaugural function.

         The Chief Guest for the Inaugural function   was Dr. Sumitra Mohanty (Chakrabarti) Associate Prof, Dept. of Physics  , Kirori Mal College, University  of Delhi . The esteemed judges for the events were       Ms. Geetika Arora, Ms  Aruni  Satpathy , Ms  Shweta , Ms. Ruchi  Kumar.  Mr Harshit , Mr H K Sharma who are  educationists and  learned  personalities from the field of science.

        All the judges arrived sharp on time and the inauguration ceremony started at 9:00 AM .It started with the invoking of Ma Saraswati along with the lighting of the lamp. Then followed an inspirational group song  .The Inaugural speech was delivered by  Dr. Sumitra Mohanty  who declared MISSION AAVISHKAAR open for 2015. This was followed by a brief introduction of the judges. The rules of the events along with the respective venues were elaborated to the participants. Thereafter the participants split and dispersed to the respective venues for the events.

        The   competition comprised of three events   focused on    vast concepts of science and motivated the students   to probe deep into the secrets of science.  The events were:

        Commun-O-Impresso   was conceptualized as a unique presentation in which the students had a choice to choose a concept/principle from Physics/Chemistry and elaborate on it with the help of a power point presentation  and an Activity/ Demonstration .

        Build-O-Mania  was   a project/ model making  activity    laying  emphasis on  the idea  of clean India.The students  had brought the material   required  and  assembled  the equipment  at the venue.  A vast range of   creative ideas  were displayed  by students.

        Quiz-O-Nova     was   conducted  in two parts. The first   preliminary round was  a written round for all participants.  The qualifying teams  had to   face  the final round   with the quiz master  which was divided into four  sections.

        The events were successfully conducted at the respective venues and judged by the esteemed panel of judges.

        ‘Mission Aavishkaar 2015’  was a grand success in which  30 schools from Delhi NCR region had registered and actively participated in the three different events of the day. The aggregate of students     from classes IX-XII   of various schools was 250.  The young scientists displayed full enthusiasm and innovative ideas and brought forward many new     creative display of the ideas.   The panel of judges  highly appreciated   the efforts   of  students.

        The   prize distribution ceremony was graced by Ms. Deepika Thapar Singh, Principal, TAFS and all the judges. She addressed the gathering and encouraged them to always strive for perfection. She reiterated that success always follows those who work hard to achieve their dreams.

        The overall programme was appreciated by the judges and the Chief Guest.  We look forward to Mission Aavishkaar 2016.
