      ‘The Wordsmiths’Meet’: 23 July 2015

On 23rd July 2015 ‘The Wordsmiths’ Meet’ (an annual English literary event) was organised by the Junior Wing of The Air Force School as part of our school’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

This event aimed to encourage children to participate in the spirit of forging new bonds of friendship and teamwork and to celebrate this wonderful process of growing together.

This year’s theme was ‘Towards a Better World’. The idea was to ignite a little spark that will not only result in reflection time but help us to develop courage, conscience and compassion: the warmth of which will be felt in the years to come.

Three different  activities  were planned for the  students of classes III, IV and V:

‘Reverberations’- a poetry recitation activity for class III

Be the Change’- a character portrayal activity for Class IV

Matters That Matter’- a short skit for class V

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp amidst chanting of ‘shlokas’. The choir struck the right notes with the melodious song ‘My Wish’ after which the events began at different venues. Students of 11  prestigious schools of Delhi participated in these events .Each event was presided over by two guests who applauded the efforts of the students and also gave their valuable feedback to them. The young ‘Wordsmiths’ excelled themselves be inspirational poems they recited or the  awe inspiring real life stories of courage, conviction and determination that they showcased as  short skits. The children dressed up as their ‘heroes’ were themselves no less than achievers.

The programme  concluded with certificate distribution to all the participants. This literary  event was well appreciated by the students as well as our esteemed guests.
