Art, talent, excitement and colour galore marked this Saturday, 31^st Oct 2015, when the students of class IV and V  took creativity to a new high. Used pet bottles, colourful paints, decoration material and excited children resulted in the creation of wonderfully ‘upcycled’ festive lanterns, as a part of the ‘Project Diamond Jubilee’. The humble string was given a new ‘avatar’ by dipping it  in fevicol and  wrapping it around an inflated balloon. The children enjoyed painting the string lanterns in different colours  which were a pleasure to behold. These wonderful creations made by the students will be used for decorating the school premises on  Annual Day, Sports Day and Open House days.  

The unique activity for today, was a gender equality newspaper craft. Taking inspiration from daily events, social happenings and the ever growing news life, students had to create a 3 page newspaper with articles on gender equality, discrimination and gender roles. The news could be fictional or factual but it had to be relevant towards an actual newspapers.

Students used their imagination to write news, stories and various reports, with future years as their theme, making the activity very informative and thought provoking. 

Astronomy Club conducted second Astronomy Workshop for class VI-X participating students on 28 Oct 2015. Activities such as Stomp Rocketry for Class VI-VIII & Science of Optics for class IX-X were held where in students learnt basis of Space Sciences. They enthusiastically took part in making rocket model & its launching. The realms of Optics were explained which enthralled the curious scientific brains of students. It has been a learning experience for the students.

 Bookmark Making

Young Tafsians today, made colourful bookmarks and used their creativity to enhance these simple bookmarks. Students created 3-D bookmarks using spring, and cardboards, making them appear life- like.

The themes varied from nature cards, book quotes to cartoons, which made for a colourful collection.

The activity was aimed at making reading interesting and to promote the idea that reading can also involve creative elements.

Cardboard Rangoli

For classes IX-X, a unique activity called cardboard Rangoli was given where students would draw patterns, designs and beautiful floral designs on cardboards to form a Rangoli.

These were without the use of Rangoli powders and paints, making them eco-friendly and tidy to make.

Students decorated mirrors, sparkles and various stone embellishments to beautify this craft. With Diwali approaching, these Rangoli’s are a beautiful way to decorate desks, tables and walls. 

The Tafsians today, continued with their CCE activities after the refreshing autumn break, with colourful border making. The Idea of borders was to utilize and make these borders available for school boards. 

The borders were patterned, colourful, bright and varied which made them worthy to be decorated with any event board. Some students wrote quotes as part of the borders and made for a beautiful contribution towards the school. 

The various borders would be used for school boards, notices and bulletin boards which make them a relevant activity.

An adventure camp at the Camp Pine Riviera, Padampuri was organised for students of classes IV & V, from 18 Oct to 20 Oct 2015. 106 students participated in this camp. 
The campers started from Delhi by train till Kathgodam from where they commuted to the camp in Jeeps. They were divided into groups and allotted tents. Looking after their personal belongings and the upkeep of the tent was the group’s responsibility. Each day the campers woke up at 6 am, went for a nature walk, learned about the terrain and vegetation and interacted with the locals before beginning with the adventure activities. These helped them to understand the lifestyle of the people on the mountains and respect the diversity. Everyone enjoyed doing rappelling, cliff jumping, Burma bridge, Commando Crawl, Ladder Climbing, flying fox, Jumarring etc. Bonding with one another during these daring activities, at meals and in the tents helped all to develop important social skills. Various team activities were also organised and the teams were given tasks to perform. The cultural evening on 19 Oct had each team showcasing a performance. The event culminated in a Kumaoni dance and musical show performed by a popular local group. 
On the final day awards were given for the best kept tents, best teams and team leaders, eco friendly campers and outstanding performance in adventure activities. All campers received certificate of participation too.
The participants had a great time at the camp and have carried with them not only the aura of the towering mountains but also rich memories of joy, sharing and bonding with their classmates as well as their teachers.

DUSSEHRA SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

A special assembly was organized in the Junior School to celebrate Dussehra. The students of  classes I & III presented a cultural programme to mark the occasion thereby ushering in the festivities.  Children dressed up in colourful  costumes depicted scenes from the epic ‘Ramayan’, significance of Durga Pooja and the victory of good over evil i.e. ‘Dussehra’.  They also presented group dances as a part of celebrations.

 AEROBICS DRILL  AT SUBROTO CUP CLOSING CEREMOMY- 16 OCT 2015

The Air Force School, Subroto Park presented an impressive aerobic drill on a peppy instrumental number bringing high power energy into the field! 86 students of class V, dressed in red, purple and green track suits, holding colourful pompoms, umbrellas and paper fans  performed scintillating aerobic moves  and  captured  the imagination of the audience. The children were inspired by the presence of the football legend Pele, the chief guest ,who was watching them perform.

Consumer Club Activity ‘Create your own Jingle’

          The Consumer Club Activity ‘CREATE YOUR OWN JINGLE’ was conducted during the CCE periods on Thursday 15^th October, 2015 which gave the students a platform to express their views on consumer related issues. Students created Jingle expressing their thoughts, ideas on Consumer Awareness topics. It was an overwhelming participation by enthusiastic students.

The student’s original presentation helped in furtherance of the consumer awareness drive.

CCE Painting Competition Report

         An EVS Painting Competition was organized as part of CCE activity, where students across VI-X had to draw their ideas on river pollution and contamination of water using colours & paints. The posters were aimed at the themes of environment, resources and water conservation. These posters would be used for an environment competition and the students thoughtfully had drawn colourful, nature friendly, scenic images on canvas.

           This activity heightened their creative ability via painting and made students more aware about potential environment threats. With such activities, our aim was to spread awareness about the alarming resource deficiency and effect, which saw a good display of posters being made by all.  

MATHEMATICAL GAME MAKING ACTIVITY

Educational games are a great tool for building the foundation of any subject. Kids may not realize all that they are learning through well thought out games. Mathematical games stimulate mathematical understanding and reinforce concepts and ideas. Keeping this in view, the mathematical game making activity was conducted in the school for the classes VI- VIII. The team of two students participated from each section. The students made the games such as Mathematical Snakes and Ladders, Mathodoku, Math Track, Broken Calculator, Squares and Square Roots etc. The students enjoyed working as a team and developed interest and excitement towards learning mathematics. They realized that Mathematics can be fun too!

Flower + Jingle Making  

          The CCE activity took a musical turn today with Jingle Making Activity being created for classes VII^th to X^th. To beat the routine schedule of art activities, the acoustically inclined students were given themes where they would create Jingles and poems. This was aimed to understand how creative, and rhyme schemes work, which were written by students on ideas of: - Swach Bharat, Right to Information etc. 

          Class VI^th performed a creative activity of making flower, using various sheets, folding and decorative material. 

          The young minds made intricate flower with pastel colours and had an array of flowers being made from roses to lilies that are aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. 

REPORT CCE ACTIVITY

14 OCT 2015

Today two craft based activities namely tangram and coaster making were executed, which both involved paper folding as the idea. 

Colourful paper, scissors and creativity were the only requirements, making it likeable by all. 

Tangrams used mathematical paper folding and coasters used elaborate designs on cardboards.  

ARTICLE WRITING REPORT

          Today’s activity was a writing based activity, where the theme was celebration of the school’s Diamond Jubilee. Students had to per down their thoughts and creatively express their ideas on celebration. The diverse articles included festivals, school events, farewell, and birthday thoughts.

           Celebration as a happy thought encompasses various events and thoughts, hence students wrote articles to contribute for our school magazine with great commitment.

           The activity made the students ponder over the various definitions of celebration and how we should respect and cherish each event.

Warli Painting

The students today beautifully draw warli art which includes folk fare, ethnic inspiration and ancient drawings of figures.

It is a celebrative representation, where events like cooking, dancing, festivals are created. It reflects village life and simplicity.

Students made crafty posters merrily.  

CLASS III VISIT TO NATIONAL MUSEUM (09 OCT ‘15)

 The students of class III visited the National Museum, Janpath on 09 Oct ’15 as a part of Flow India Programme on the theme ‘Crafts of India’.

This museum was inaugurated in the year 1955 and has about 2,00,000 objects from our cultural heritage. The students admired the various artefacts on display some of which were as old as 5000 years. They also saw The North Eastern Crafts and Musical Instruments  on display in the museum. It was different learning experience of their chapter on ‘Our Country’s Heritage’ from their EVS syllabus.

This visit helped children become aware of India’s rich craft tradition and learn about the craftsmen of our country and their skills.

School Magazine Art 

          The activity for today, gave an opportunity to young Tafsians to display their art work and contribute to the school magazine for its cover. 

The Diamond Jubilee celebration was the focal theme of this activity, where students used their creative instincts, making 3D covers, pastel sheet crafts and decorative ideas representing enthusiasm towards school. The ideas ranged from Independence Day, sports day, school celebration to various ceremonies of the school. A very vibrant mix of colourful ideas was displayed on canvas by young Tafsians.   

ATHLETIC EVENTS  CLASSES UKG-V HELD ON 06-07 OCT. 2015

Excitement and fun prevailed in the junior wing as the students of classes UKG-V participated in athletic events setting the tracks on fire!  Amidst much cheering and clapping, flat races were held for the students of classes II-V(class II- 50 m races and classes III-V 80 m races) on 6 Oct. 2015.  On 7 Oct. 2015, 30m flat races were held for the students of classes UKG & I. The participants could be seen enjoying the races in the warm sunshine being enthusiastically cheered by their classmates.  The final result is as follows:

Emoticon Report

The students today, used a novel idea of emoticons to represent emotions and mode a range of feelings celebrating each thought.

The themes ranged from happiness, anger success, celebration and humour. These were given to allow children a freedom to express, create and represent all emotions that they experience.

Using school events like Annual Day, Sports Day, farewell as inspiration, students enjoyed creating creative and offbeat cartoons and smileys.

It was an interesting activity full of new ideas and expressive abilities.

Dengue Pamphlet Activity 

The activity for the day was an informative dengue pamphlet creation by students across class VI-X.

The idea was to highlight the causes, symptoms and prevention of this growing menace in our city.

The students created beautiful and relevant posters with statistics, sources and possible aspects of dengue, which would certainly help them in learning about the disease, overall.

It was a useful activity with students focusing on the topic, more than the artistic idea of the activity.

CHARACTER ENACTMENT EVENT - CLASS - I

A character enactment event on the theme ‘Gadgets and Electronic Appliances’ was organized for class – I on 5^th Oct’ 15.

The children enthusiastically enacted a wide range of electronic appliances dressed up as mobile phones, robots, washing machine, computer, toaster, electronic voting machines, mixer and grinder etc. they spoke about the gadget they represented with the right expression, clear diction and great confidence.  

This  event  not only helped them to hone their communication skills but also helped them to learn more about a lot of electronic gadgets.

The CCE activity for the school started with a colourful array of folders made by students of class VI-X. The folders were intricately designed with madhubani & floral art designs, where students showcased their ethnic drawing designs. The activity gave students an opportunity to make something useful as well as artistic.

CLASS III VISIT TO CRAFTS MUSEUM( 01 OCT’15)

The students of class III visited the Crafts Museum, Pragati Maidan on 1st Oct ’15. Prior to the visit, ‘Flow India’ facilitators conducted an orientation and activity workshop on 28th Sep ’15.

The theme for this learning experience was ‘Exploring textiles and all things handmade’, about which they learn in their EVS syllabus.  Children learnt about how a garment is made step by step. The beautiful borders woven on silk and woollen shawls in India displayed there, gave them a peep into the lives of people who lived many years ago. The special loom on display was also amazing.  They also did a fun activity of weaving with colourful strips of paper.

The  beautiful Ayyanar Horses were another major source of attraction for our young learners. Learning about the steps in making Terracotta Pottery was another fun filled experience for these TAFSians.

This visit helped children become aware of India’s rich craft tradition and learn about the lives and importance of craftspeople.
