Circular - Safe Transport for Transporting School Children & Police Verification of Driver

      TAFS/101/Bus/Adm                                                                                          12 Jul 2017

                                                                                                                     Most Immediate

      SAFE TRANSPORT

FOR TRANSPORTING SCHOOL CHILDREN & POLICE VERIFICATION OF DRIVER

      Dear Parents,

      1.         We would like to inform you that the Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Directorate of Education has issued a order No DE.15(143)/Act-I/Tpt./2014/26586-26598 dated 26th Sep 2014 regarding use of safe transport.  You are advised to ensure that your ward does not travel in illegal Vans/RTVs which can be dangerous or fatal owing to non adherence of motor vehicle laws and Supreme Court guidelines. All private vans carrying school children are required to have special registration series DL1K and painted with golden yellow strip all around in the middle of van. All unauthorised vehicles engaged in transportation of school children without valid DL1K registration series are liable to be impounded.

      2.         Hence, parents of those students who are using own arrangement transport are hereby advised to collect the commercial permit from the driver without any further delay and get drivers verified by the Delhi Police (www.delhipolice.nic.in) and submit the complete details of transport, names & number of students travelling, driver’s verification report and other details to the school authorities (transport-in-charge) latest by 27th July 2017.

      3.         It was found that few van drivers do not hold valid license, insurance and other relevant documents. It is suggested that before availing van facilities, parents must check the following documents:

      (a)  Valid Driving License

      (b)  Insurance and validity (with special registration series)

      (c)  Speed Governor

      (d)  Address proof to the driver

      (e)  Van should conform to Delhi Govt. Guidelines.

      4.         For safety of children, it is suggested, that your ward should not sit on CNG Cylinder while commuting through private vans and, should wear the seat belt while sitting on the front seat. Number of students commuting in Van shouldn’t be more than the authorised strength as per the vehicle registration.

      5.         It is once again reiterated that the safest mode of travel is the school bus/service coaches.

      6.         Your proper compliance and early reply will be genuinely appreciated anticipated.

       Yours faithfully

      Amita Gupta
      Principal
