Educational Trip to Mahatma Gandhi Ek Pravasi Digital Museum

 

To develop certain values like Peace, Truth and Ahimsa in the minds of Tafsian, an educational trip was organised from 26/12/17 to 28/12/17 for the students of class-VI to 'Mahatma Gandhi Ek Pravasi Digital Museum'.

The students had an interactive and informative session of two hours under the guidance of Ankita Supehia. They witnessed rarest exhibits like old important news papers, journals, printing machine, watch and spectacles. They went through a digital tour which was divided into many sections like: The Night That Changed The World, Praja Vikas, Salt March , Notice Nityam etc. Each section contained Gandhiji's ideas on Social Development. 

At the end of the session, the children were shown a short documentary on 'Triumph and Tragedy' which enhanced their knowledge about the historical events. They got inspiration from the life of Gandhi ji and were encouraged and motivated to lead a simple life with honesty and sincerity.

    CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS- JUNIOR SCHOOL (22 DEC 2017)

    Christmas was celebrated with great fervour, at Junior School, on 22 Dec 2017, with class UKG presenting a cultural show. The little ones danced and sang their way to everyone’s heart. They conveyed the message of love for everyone and caring for others in very simple words and action. The huge Christmas tree decorated with colourful buntings and the school decorated with stars, candies, stockings and bells added to the festivities.

    The school choir belted out some popular Christmas carols to the merriment of all. Everyone joined in the singing when Father Christmas came in to meet the young TAFSians. Father Christmas conducted a short quiz, concerning the legend surrounding him, with the students. He also asked the children to promise to be good and kind throughout the year. With best wishes for a cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year Father Christmas bid good bye to all promising to come again next season. He also treated the UKG students with sweets for presenting a wonderful Christmas programme.

      BASKET BALL TOURNAMENT- CLASSES IV & V

      Basketball tournaments for boys and girls of classes IV & V were held on 20 – 21 Dec 2017, during school hours. The teams, representing each class, were selected during the regular Basketball coaching at school. The team members displayed great skills in free throw shooting, jump shooting, dribbling, hand eye coordination and team spirit. Being a fast paced mental game with high energy physical movements it not only helped the players achieve physical fitness but also helped in enhancing their confidence. They played well with their classmates cheering them on. It was superb power packed performances by these young TAFSians!

        IWPA Annual conference at Air Force Auditorium

        IWPA Annual conference at AIR FORCE AUDITORIUM for Pilot training

         

        On 19th Dec, the Students (Girls) belonging to Class IX of The Air force school, were audience to the Renowned International Conference for Women In Aviation under IWPA organisation under Air India.
        Esteemed Members of ISRO,DRDO, IAF also spoke encouraging words towards women in aviation.

        The Indian women pilot association introduced prominent speakers like chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa, The first Women Pilot of IWPA Ms. Mohini Shroff,and Saudamini Deshmukh.

        The IWPA promoted Aviation as a career for women in India and gave students an inspirational insight about how young girls can be a part of the Industry as Captains, Pilots, Medical officers, Air hostess, Cabin Crew, technicians etc.

        Aerospace details in India, its challenges for women and the scope of Fighter Pilot training was also discussed at length.

        The children were keen to know of the innovative technologies and avenues ahead for them in the area of Civil and commercial flying.

        They had a very memorable time with this unique experience and would surely cherish it to build careers in flying ahead.

          62nd SPORTS DAY ‘KHEL UTSAV’

          The Air Force School celebrated its 62nd Sports Day –“Karoti Sankalpam”-A Pledge for progress and prosperity –on 16 December 2017.

          The sports ground at TAFS reverberated with the enthusiastic sounds of drills, march past and relays under the warmth of the winter sun. This celebration was the culmination of the year round sporting activities. The Chief Guest for the event was Air Marshal H N Bhagwat, AVSM, VM, Air Officer in-charge Administration and Chairman Board of Governors, Indian Air Force and Mrs Shubhada Bhagwat.

          The event witnessed hundred percent participation from Junior School with the heartwarming drills by the little ones- titled Sahaayta, Swachhata, Samaanta, Siddhi and Samvriddhi. Each drill transported the enraptured viewers to the theme of the day, showcasing the importance of joyful learning. Other highlights of the day were the Sports report – read out proudly by the school’s Sports Captains, march past where each house- Subroto, Arjan, Latif, Katre and Pratap vied for the first position as they marched in crisp synchronization to the tune of the school band along with NCC cadets.

          The school band consisting of 25 student members was led by Harsh Kumar Jha, playing the drums, cymbals and bagpipes. They enthralled the guests with their synchronized performance, spreading out in the circle formation and the Rajasthani Slow March.

          Athletic events like 100M run and 400 M run in the senior boys’ and girls’ category and junior boys’ 400 M relay race kept the adrenaline running.

          Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal HN Bhagwat commented on the excellent academic and sporting environment provided to the students. He said that one should enter the sports field with the determination to win and should accept victory or defeat with graciousness. Highlighting the benefits of sports, he said that participation in important, not the thought of winning or losing.

          In her welcome address, the Principal, Mrs Amita Gupta said that when the young minds pledge or take a sankalp for sahaayta, swachhata, samaanta, siddhi and samvriddhi, one can be assured of their commitment as builders of a ‘New India.’ Ma’am stressed the fact that being spiritually conscious, socially responsible and morally upright are the core values imparted to the students of TAFS

          Mrs. Shubhada Bhagwat gave away the prizes to the winners. As the grounds resounded with the proud cheering of the winners, TAFS geared itself for the next year’s sporting activities.

          The Vote of Thanks was given by the Headmistress of the Junior Wing, Mrs Deepa Krishnan.

          The event came to an end with Chief Guest Air Marshal HN Bhagwat declaring the 62nd Khel Utsav of the Air Force School closed.

            An Interactive Workshop on Drug Abuse

            REPORT ON DRUG ABUSE

            To sensitize the students of class X, an interactive workshop on drug abuse was conducted  on 12.12 2017. The resource person for the workshop was Sqn Ldr AK Gautam  (HOD, Psychiatry), AFCME  and Sqn Ldr  Sheeva Goswami  (OIC, Med Examination)AFCME . They made the students aware of the  meaning of drug addiction, its causes method of prevention and modes of treatment too.

            They stated that curiosities, desire for pleasure , lack of self- reliance inferiority complex have been marked as causes of one becoming a drug addict.

            The harmful effects of drug were focused throughout the session. Sqn Ldr Gautam also mentioned that it is found that in today’s society drug addiction mainly comes from frustration .The frustrated persons take drugs as stress relievers. It doesn’t help them rather it destroy the health of the addict and damages society. The students participated actively throughout the session.

            The session was concluded with the idea that everyone should develop good relationship among family members, friends and teachers . There is hope to overcome from addiction with will power.

              First Aid(CPR) workshop for class VIII

              First Aid(CPR) workshop for class VIII

              A workshop was organized on 13/12/17  for the students of class VIII on creating awareness on first aid regarding CPR(Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation )  by Yogesh Pant from Indian Medical Association and Heart care foundation of India. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.

               The workshop also highlighted the importance and need of First Aid and  guided the students about in case If the victim is still not breathing normally, coughing or moving, begin chest compressions by pushing  down in the center of the chest 2-2.4 inches 30 times and  Pump hard and fast at the rate of 100-120/minute, faster than once per seconds 3.

              The students were immensely benefited from the workshop.
