PARENT ORIENTATION
PROGRAMME FOR CLASS IX
A Parent Orientation program for students of Class IX was
organized in the Air force School on 21st April, 2018.
Ms Preeti Parasher, the class representative, apprised the
parents about the rules and regulations to be followed in the school. Important
facilities like school bus, sick bay, school counselor, school library, TAFS
online information system etc. were discussed. The parents were informed about
the weekly HW schedule and the need for punctuality in submission of the same
was stressed upon.
Ms. Ashima Verma, the school counselor spoke of the various
teenage changes, challenges with peers and mobile addiction. She also spoke
about the academic pattern that changes in class IX. Teenage management,
communication and how to monitor their children at the adolescent age was
imparted through the presentation.
Mr Sujeet Chhikara presented a PPT on the schedule of
examination and the evaluation system. The parameters of evaluation of CW/HW
notebooks were discussed. The parents
were informed of the evaluation system that will be followed in assessment of
the child’s performance. They were also told about the discipline grading
system. He apprised the parents to accept that every child is different and has
a different value system.
Ms Amita Gupta,
Principal, The Air Force School, shared her valuable insights on parenting and
the need to encourage the child and motivate him at every step. Ma’am stressed
on the important role that academics plays at this crucial juncture in a
student’s life, urging parents to support and encourage their students,
identify their ward’s interest in various subjects and maintain regular contact
with school to bring about a holistic development of the child. Ma’am further urged
the parents to spend time with their child and inculcate moral values and
discipline in them as the right age to mold them into good human beings is now.
That is the aim of education.
The vote of thanks was given by Ms Lomina Rajiva, Vice
Principal, The Air Force School. Ma’am thanked the
parents for their gracious presence remarking that their presence indicated
that they were closely involved in their ward’s progress.
