      Space Explorers Workshop

      Space Explorers Workshop

The Air force School, Subroto Park

SPACE Explorer workshop is a collection of one day programs which focus on teaching Space

Science and Astronomy to students through practical hands on experience. The whole

      philosophy of the workshop is

      “I do - I understand

      I understand – I learn”

Recently a workshop named Lunar Settlement Model was conducted at “The Air Force School.

Subroto Park” for students of Class VI  to Class X.

Students in this workshop learnt about the importance of space exploration and a permanent

settlement on Moon for this cause. The students also identified the problems we are facing in

developing the permanent settlement and their solutions. Students then made their models on

Lunar settlement which they could understand and relate keeping it short and simple.

The workshop was focused on their critical thinking and troubleshooting of problems caused in

space. The workshop also involved their skills in creative art and team work.

       The students enjoyed the workshop

thoroughly and got the “Moon Poster” to enjoy at home and remember the space science learnt.

Members of the ‘The Literati League’ spent a day at Hauz Khas village browsing through stores and walking down the narrow alleys of this quaint abode of designers and collectors of antiques. Armed with little notepads, a small group of 11 budding writers and accompanying teachers acted as journalists gathering information about this unique place in the heart of a ‘commercial’ Delhi. The artsy ‘village’ with its unconventional style was explored thoroughly. From the shops dealing in old furniture and bric-a –brac to  those dealing with ‘Kitsch’ art, it was a visual feast. The students were greeted with the most unusual graffiti art which has a dramatic impact on the ambience of the place .Famous designers stores  like Kavita Bhartia’s Ogaan,  Shivan and Narresh, Lola’s World dot the area. Eateries like New York Slice and the famous Elma’s with its rainbow cake and moist chocolate cake are a great hit with the young crowd.

This activity was designed at encouraging students to observe their surroundings and write about it for the upcoming issue of the school magazine; ‘The Aravalian’ .The theme of the magazine (2013-14) is ‘The Extraordinary in the Ordinary’
