HERITAGE WALK- CLASS V (18 & 22 OCT
2019)
A VISIT TO GANDHI SMRITI
The children of Class V
visited Gandhi Smriti located on Tees January Marg on 18th and 22nd October
2019 as part of the Heritage Walks conducted by the school. This year marks the
150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. As the nation is paying tribute to
the Mahatma in the form of various events and campaigns across the country, we
are doing our bit to make children aware of the importance of Gandhian thoughts
about cleanliness and non-violence as an instrument of awakening.
Gandhi Smriti holds
significance as the place of martyrdom of the 'Father of our Nation', Mahatma
Gandhi. The children paid homage to 'Bapu' and saw glimpses of his life through
photographs, models and slide shows.
They quite enjoyed the
Eternal Gandhi museum, in the Birla House, dedicated to Gandhiji, showcasing
his contributions and involvement in India's struggle for freedom. The two
rooms where Gandhiji spent the last 144 days of his life have been preserved
carefully for people to see and understand the simplicity and greatness of a
humble leader.
The Heritage Walk proved to
be an enriching experience and a valuable lesson in understanding the man and
his philosophy, the magnificent leader the world treats with the utmost respect
and recognizes as awesome!
