26th Vasant Valley Drama Festival 2017

26th Vasant Valley Drama Festival 2017

‘Great theatre is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to’

      -      William Defoe

Twenty students of class V were transported to the fantastical land of theatre for three days, when they took part in the 26th Vasant Valley Drama Festival, organised by Vasant Valley School, at the Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park from 30th August to 1st September 2017.

The actual festival was preceded by a wonderful workshop in the month of July, for the participants on voice modulation, use of stage and the power of theatre as a medium of expression, where gestures take centre stage along with voice intonation. The experience gained was invaluable and with over 17 schools taking part in this festival, it was truly a ‘once in a life time’ experience for these young children. Based on the theme ‘Lost & Found’, using humour as a potent tool, the participants managed to transform everyday life situations into a comic riot.

The interactive session at the end of the performance was also a great learning experience, when the participants fielded questions put by the students of the other participating schools, on their performance, the play, the characters and their dialogues.
