COOKING WITHOUT FIRE - Classes III & IV

COOKING WITHOUT FIRE

Classes III & IV (28 July 2021)

As part of our school’s holistic approach towards education, we have tried to, at a very young age introduce our students to being self-sufficient and acquiring life skills like cooking, irrespective of gender.

With that objective a competition was organised for the students of class III and IV on 28th of July 2021, on ‘Cooking without fire.’

This competition has undoubtedly piqued our students’ interest in cooking which is a basic life skill. The response, of course with parental support, was amazing! All our students turned out to be MasterChef’s in their own right, whether it be the class III participants who excelled in the skill of sandwich making and blew our minds with the varied entries made of different stuffing’s, all healthy and nutritious, or our class IV students who ingeniously made-up mouth-watering delicacies, without the use of fire/ flame/ electricity. The presentation skills, as the photos proclaim were print worthy indeed!

More power to all our young chefs!

The prize-winning entries are as follows-

They were judged on the parameters like confidence, content, voice modulation, the props used and on the overall presentation. PINK DAY CELEBRATIONS- CLASS UKG (22 JULY 2021)

PINK DAY was celebrated by our youngest TAFSIans on 22nd July 2021, during their online class. It was wonderful to see our children 'blooming'  in different shades of pink. The objective of this activity was to make the kindergartners identify pink colour in the objects they see in their surroundings. They played a game 'hunting' for pink things at home and bringing them to the class. The kids got a variety of things ranging from their soft toys , to doll houses, boxes, abacus, water bottles, containers, cushions, decorative items etc.The children were very excited to learn how to obtain pink colour by mixing red & white colours.

All tiny tots with their beautiful attires enjoyed doing a tearing and pasting activity and made beautiful tulip flowers. It was indeed a visual treat to witness little ones dancing to the tunes of pink colour rhymes and songs. They made merry 'in pink' partaking in this experiential learning opportunity.

              BLUE DAY CELEBRATIONS - UKG

BLUE DAY CELEBRATIONS -  UKG  (15 July 2021)

Colours are the essence of life. Celebrating a colour day gives us opportunity to take our children into the magical world where colours come alive. Each colour is so unique and special in making the world we live in, so beautiful, just like each child in our care, so unique and special.

BLUE- the colour of sky and sea; often associated with stability and depth, was our colour of the day. Clad in various shades of blue our youngest TAFSians looked so vibrant in their online classes. The students  recognised and learned more about blue colour through different activities like singing rhymes and jingles, spotting different things around them etc. During a discussion on the importance of water they shared various tips and tricks on how to save water. The kids also enjoyed a drawing and colouring activity related to the topic.

Early identification of colours helps to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words which is an important part of a child’s development.Blue day was an amazing learning experience for our tiny tots.

Webinar on “Rome, Religion and Royals” by National Museum

A webinar was conducted by National museum through their instagram live session on "Rome,Religion and Royals" by Prof. Abhijit Bhattacharya on 30th June 2021 at 5pm.

The session was highly informative as it gave us opportunity to visit the historically rich India during the times of roman emperors who visited India through varied land and sea passes to trade for the spices and cloth specially in the Western Ghats region covering Gujarat and Maharashtra for cotton and Kerala for spices, which were considered as royal items of trade and benefitted romans for centuries. The lecture also laid emphasis on how inscriptions, currencies and spread of buddhism played an important role for the roman emperors to know about the cultural richness of the country which could benefit their trade in the long run.India, with its geographical setting in the middle of Central Asia provided favourable factors to people across the globe to use land and sea routes to take back the cultural richness of the country back to their own. This lecture rightfully enlightened us to analyse varied physical, geographical, economical and cultural factors that promoted trading opportunities in India for many to progress.

                        UKG GREEN DAY CELEBRATIONS

UKG GREEN DAY CELEBRATIONS (1st July 2021)

The depletion of natural resources and recurrent environmental changes have been affecting our health and our lives for quite some time now. Human activities have abused the resources available to us in our environment.  In order to educate our kindergartners about the value of our natural resources and introduce them to the colour 'Green Day' was celebrated virtually with great enthusiasm, on 01 July 2021.

The children and their teachers joined the online classes dressed in vibrant shades of the green colour. The importance of trees and how we can keep our nature clean and green was discussed in the class. The children also learnt about the importance of eating healthy food. The kids relished healthy sprout salad with added green veggies like cucumber and capsicum and decorated with coriander leaves.   They also learnt about the importance of planting and taking care of plants and trees through interesting videos. They enthusiastically recited rhymes on green colour along with the teachers making it a fun filled experience.
