Keeping this in mind a stick puppet making activity was specially designed for UKG children. The story of Ramayana was shared in the class after they made stick puppet Ravana. Class I students made bright and colourful Torans also referred to as 'Bandhanwar'. Their proud contribution to the decorations for the festive season!

The pencil toppers being with the children while studying also constantly reminded them of the right choices they have to make in life even if they seem difficult. The children posed with their beautiful pencils and clicked pictures.

These young Tafsians narrated the story to their teachers and parents using their props and talked about the significance of Dussehra which glorified the occasion.

A finger printing art activity "Fruity Finger Prints " was organised for the UKG kids on 8th Oct 2020.It involved the use of water colours to finger print on drawings of assorted fruits. It's an excellent activity for fine motor and sensory development of children at early age.The students were already introduced to different varieties of fruits, the seasons in which they are available and their health benefits, during the week .
Our little artists enjoyed the activity and created beautiful fruity prints using their tiny fingers. It was an absolute pleasure watching them learn and have fun at the same time.

MY GARDEN OF WORDS- CLASS II ENGLISH ART ACTIVITY (09 OCT 2020)

“Most writers sow adjectives almost unconsciously into the soil of their prose to make it more lush and pretty.” ~William Zinsser

Adjectives are an important element of a sentence. They help us to picture the content of that we are reading. When we use adjectives in a sentence, we help our writings become more visual and vivid. It helps the reader use his senses; they can hear, see, touch, taste and even smell what we are describing.

Adjectives help children to express themselves and communicate about things and characters in different ways. An interesting way for children to learn adjectives is by doing an art activity which would appeal both to their minds and eyes.

An activity called ‘My Garden of words’ was organised for the students of Class II on 9th October. The advantage of giving an art activity to be done at home is the availability of a wide variety of art materials in the house. The children made a garden of flowers with each petal of the flower describing the noun within it. The charming flower garden displayed in the children’s room left one struck with splendour amazement!

                                    GANDHI JAYANTI WEEK

                                    (Sept 28-0ct 2,2020)

To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, The Air Force School organises a set of activities spread along the week, based on the principles and ideals of our revered leader, Mahatma Gandhi.

                                    Day 5- Doodle Art

The week concluded with the activity Doodle- art for the students of class X. Today, the Indian youth is facing a hard time. After seven decades of independence the youth has become more morally, ethically, socially and spiritually adrift. The lack of sense of purpose is waning in comparison to what it was during pre-independence days. They feel alienated and frustrated. There are many reasons (both internal and external) for frustration and purposelessness.

Modernization combined with globalization has changed life in general and the lifestyle of youth in particular in the last few decades leading to change in social institutions and structures as well. Besides substantive demographic change in terms of population, political decadence, rising unemployment, and eroding value system combined with excessive market-oriented economy have made life very complicated for the new generation.

The changes affect the youth the most as the young mind is like a clean slate. If the youth is falling prey to a rapidly changing value system on one hand, they can also be moulded by inculcating good thoughts, actions, habits and values on the other. The contemporary social milieu needs to be responsive to these expectations of the young mind so as to make them partner to over-all development and nation building.

In order to make the youth of modern India more actively engaged in nation-building, a force that has lot of zeal and purpose to do something, the present system needs to be all-encompassing to be able to move with the young and old with the right perspective. To achieve harmony among the young and old and seamlessly function as a vibrant society, the youth of our country need to become the engine of change.

In the same context, it is all the more essential that Gandhian values are inculcated among the youth in earnest so as to make them more vivacious and active for nation-building.

It will be prudent to understand the problems faced by ‘gen next’ before any steps can be taken to inculcate good values in youth and make them healthy partners in nation-building. To address these issues, Gandhian philosophy is best suited for the present- day situation and needs to be epitomized among the youth. The Gandhian perspective of a healthy and pious lifestyle may apparently look very mundane but in reality, it is very effective and lasting in the long run. The young may instinctively be repulsive to such values but elders, teachers and, above all, parents need to help the youth to imbibe these values.

                                      GANDHI JAYANTI WEEK

                                      (Sept 28-0ct 2,2020)

To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, The Air Force School organises a set of activities spread along the week, based on the principles and ideals of our revered leader, Mahatma Gandhi.

                                      Day 4- Animate and Tell

Mahatma Gandhi has referred to earth, land and water as natural resources of vital importance which we have not inherited and therefore have no sole rights over their usage and destruction. In fact, these natural resources have been termed as a loan with help of which we are enjoying a high quality of life. We have to preserve these resources and this can be done by implementing effective ways to save our natural resources, reducing wastage of resources and putting efforts to maintain ecological balance.

This quote of Gandhiji tries to inculcate behaviour of responsibility rather than behaviour of authority in dealing with the natural resources. This behaviour of responsibility on our part requires ensuring responsible production and consumption practices to preserve the environment.

The fourth day of the week started with the activity -Animate and Tell , for the students of class IX. The best tribute today would be to safeguard his vision, which the children have beautifully tried to capture and convey. Through this activity the young learners realise and spread awareness that natural resources are a present for the creation. These help in satisfying the human needs to its fullest. Furthermore, the rational use of natural resources maintains the earth’s atmosphere. Also, the wise use leads to protection of bio-diversity. Humans cannot imagine their lives without natural resources. Thus, the conservation of the same is essential.

“Away, away, from men and towns,
To the wild wood and the downs, —
                                      To the silent wilderness,
Where the soul need not repress its music.”
                                      —Percy Bysshe Shelley

To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, The Air Force School organises a set of activities spread along the week, based on the principles and ideals of our revered leader, Mahatma Gandhi.

Day 3- Click and Tell (Cleanliness is next to Godliness)

Indians gained freedom under the leadership of Gandhiji, but his dream of a clean India is still unfulfilled. Mahatma Gandhi said "Sanitation is more important than independence". He made cleanliness and sanitation an integral part of the Gandhian way of living. His dream was total sanitation for all.

The third day of the week started with the activity -Click and Tell (Cleanliness is next to Godliness), for the students of class VIII. Cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment. It has bearing on public and personal hygiene. It is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and the various diseases that are caused due to poor hygienic conditions. The young enthusiasts of our school got thoroughly involved in the activity and participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The habits learnt at a young age get embedded into one's personality. Even if we inculcate certain habits like washing hands before meals, regular brushing of teeth, and bathing from a young age, we are not bothered about cleanliness of public places. Mahatma Gandhi said, “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet”. Gandhiji dwelt on cleanliness and good habits and pointed out its close relationship to good health.

The best tribute today would be to safeguard his vision which the children have beautifully tried to capture and convey.

“Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct; they are matters of education, and like most great things, you must cultivate a taste for them.”
