MONSOON / RAINBOW DAY ACTIVITIES

MONSOON / RAINBOW DAY ACTIVITIES
When life gives you a rainy day, play in puddles!

The first drop of rain always brings smiles to our faces and energizes our children as they love jumping in puddles, floating paper boats and dancing in monsoon showers forgetting all their worries. To celebrate ‘Monsoon” the magical time of the year  a range of activities were organised for students of classes (UKG - 2) during the week (22-26 August 2022).

The students of class KG were thrilled to see their teachers demonstrate how to make colourful origami boats. Children got an opportunity to play and have fun while folding and pasting paper to make the boats.  Their happiness was very much evident.

The students of class 1 did the activity “My Pretty Umbrella” during the Monsoon week celebrations. They made their own colourful origami umbrellas. Paper folding and pasting helps in the fine motor development of the children. They welcomed the rain showers with bright smiles and their hand made umbrellas.

Keeping the concept of magic of colours in mind “The Cloud and Rainbow Activity” was organised for the students of class 2 during these Monsoon celebrations. Using coloured chart papers the children made beautiful rainbow emerging from the clouds. It was a delightful sight to see them enjoying the activity.

The students displayed a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm as they prepared to take on these wonderful activities during this week long celebration. A lot of learning had happened during these fun filled activities just by doing!

    75th INDEPENDENCE DAY 2022-23

We bow our heads in reverence of our martyrs and late national leaders who laid their lives so that we could breathe the air of a free country. The independence movement in India was carried on by the freedom fighters who underwent a hard and severe struggle. This day reminds us of that struggle and inspires us to love our country. We are the future of our country. And, we should be ready to sacrifice everything for her.

It was to celebrate this day and to remember this spirit of sacrifice that the students and staff of The Air Force School came together on 12 August 2022, commemorating75glorious years of freedom. As the air reverberated with the spirit of sacrifice, the enthusiastic participants eagerly awaited the arrival of the Chief Guest,Group Captain Shakti Sharma, Group Captain Education. CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENT INDIA- JUNIOR SCHOOL

CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENT INDIA- JUNIOR SCHOOL

The students of TAFS Junior Wing celebrated 75 years of independent India with great patriotic fervor and zeal. Children were participating in and enjoying the activities over a fortnight. The celebrations culminated with a special assembly presented by Class IV on 12 August 2022. To commemorate 75 years of progressive independent India, this year the Independence Day is celebrated as ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV’.  Children were motivated to think, share and use their ideas freely. Various hands-on activities were planned for the children from UKG-V keeping in mind the feeling of patriotism and National Education Policy (NEP) together to give them the experience of experiential learning on one side and to showcase their love for nation on the other side. The activity of each and every child was displayed in the school premises to instill in them the feeling of belongingness and oneness.

The activity for UKG was ‘Finger Printing Activity’. The little ones were guided by their teachers in making tricolor flags using finger printing and their work was displayed in the class. They also learnt about the significance of each colour.

The smart children of Class I made tricolor flags using origami sheets. A Hindi Kavita Path Pratiyogita was also organized for the children wherein they learnt and recited a poem ‘PYARA BHARAT’ with all their emotions and feelings.

A series of activities were conducted for Class II. They went vocal with their expression of patriotism by participating in a Hindi Kavita Path Pratiyogita on the topic ‘Deshprem’ and Hindi Oration Activity on the topic ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’. Children spoke about their country with great pride and love. They also made tricolor flowers with orange, white and green origami sheets and their creations were used to decorate the school.

Children of Class III prepared mouth-watering tricolor sandwiches using buttered bread, cucumber, tomato and cheese. The teachers explained and discussed the nutritional value of each ingredient and also talked about the significance of eating healthy food. The students also made tricolor hangings in their art class based on paper fan folding and pasted them on ribbons. Class IIIC put up a special assembly wherein children sang patriotic songs, recited poems and also danced to the tunes of patriotic songs.

The students of Class V revisited India’s struggle for freedom movement by participating in ‘Patriotic Group Song Activity’. Each section was being divided in four groups. Each group chose a patriotic song, practiced for several days and finally presented it on 12 August in front of the whole class. As the children prepared the songs on their own, it helped in inculcating in them the values of cooperation, independence, decision-making and hard work. They also participated in Hindi Oration Activity on Patriotism.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations culminated with a dance drama presented by Class IV on 12 August. The beginning was marked by the prayer by school choir followed by a patriotic song ‘Hum Bharatwasi Likhte Hain Ek Naya Itihaas …….’ This was followed by a mesmerizing dance performance ‘Anant Anandotsav’. The cultural programme consisted of a skit showing glimpses of some of the remarkable events like the revolt by Mangal Pandey and Rani Laxmibai, featuring freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Chandrasekhar Azad and the sacrifices made by them. The skit also showcased independent India and the progress we made after independence. The depiction of great achievers like Neeraj Chopra, Saina Nehwal, Bajrang Punia, Harnaz Sandhu etc in their respective fields brought about nostalgia and sparked inspiration. The children took a pledge to keep the country’s pride high and vouched to be responsible citizens of the country. This was followed by the National Anthem.

TIGERS DAY CELEBRATION (Grade UKG & 1)

TIGERS DAY CELEBRATION (Grade UKG & 1)- 29 July 2022

We too are living beings! Tigers are one of the species that are nearing extinction. Therefore, to spread awareness on tiger conservation, International Tiger Day or Global Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29. It is a way to spread awareness about this magnificent but endangered big cat. The tiger day celebration at TAFS aimed to sensitize students about the critical need to protect tigers. On this occasion, the students of UKG made a tiger with their hand prints dipped in orange and black colour.  Children felt the cool, squishy texture of the paint and experimented with colours and patterns, thereby enhancing  their creativity and developed fine motor skills too by strengthening finger and hand muscles. All the students were very excited and actively participated in the hand print activity.

The children of grade 1 also enthusiastically participated in the tigers day celebration. They brought their toy tigers and confidently recited the poem on tigers day. They made beautiful arm bands with tiger pic on it which they had stuck and coloured. Coloring and drawing improves fine motor skills, encourages focus, and nurtures creativity. Our talented children really enjoyed and were actively involved during the entire process of band making which they later happily displayed on their arms.

The main aim of this celebration  was to make our future generation aware and more responsible for animals and to be kind towards them.

English Poem Recitation Competition – Class 1

Poetry is simply the most beautiful, impressive and widely effective mode of saying things. Beauty is the realm of poetry. Poem Recitation is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the latent talents of children. Recitation activities help students to build confidence as they learn to speak more accurately and persuasively about any piece of writingKeeping this in mind, an English Poem Recitation Competition was organized for the learners of grade 1 from 4 to 8 July 2022 to develop rhythm, phonetic awareness, self expression and confidence among learners. The competition inspired the little Tafsians to come forward and recited the poem with great fondness and zeal. Students were judged on the parameters like confidence, voice modulation, memorization and overall presentation. They enjoyed the perfection of expression, thoughts, emotions, rhythm and music of words.

                          Congratulations to the winners!
