EARTH DAY CELEBRATION - JR WING

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION REPORT

15-19 APRIL 24

“People everywhere breathe the same air, share the same seas, live together on land. People everywhere who learn, plan, work, care, can save the Earth”- Betty Miles

These simple yet powerful words urge us to ponder over our responsibility to safeguard the Earth by adopting corrective measures to ensure the existence of a healthy planet to live in. Celebrating Earth Day serves as a conscious reminder of how fragile our planet is and how important it is to protect it. With the aim to spread awareness about various environmental issues, EarthDay was celebrated in TAFS Junior wing from 15th – 19th April ’24. An array of activities was conducted to sensitize the students about the importance of the Earth Day and the conservation of natural resources.

Class UKG – The tiny tots of UKG joyfully engaged in activities to conserve Earth and Mother Nature. They came dressed in green coloured dresses and went on a  nature walk in the lush school gardens. The little ones collected fallen leaves and did green palm printing to make beautiful patterns.

Class I -  Children of Class I celebrated Earth Day by making interesting wrist bands of the Earth with flower cutouts. The young ones took an active participation in the discussion about the need to protect Earth’s natural resources and various ways of keeping the earth healthy.

Class II -  The blooming artists of Class II made Earth Day badges with slogans like  ‘Save Earth’. To show their devotion and dedication towards Mother Earth, they took a pledge and promised to be the ‘Green Warriors’ who will protect the Earth’s resources at any cost.

Class III-  For Earth Day, Class III made head gears with catchy slogans on conservation of the earth and its resources. The children went back home wearing brightly coloured  head gears with messages reflecting their love for Mother Earth. They also pledged to do something to save the earth from the myriad problems plaguing it

Class IV -  As part of Earth Day celebration Class IV made *Nature Frame* based on the theme ‘Planet v/s Plastic’. They created beautiful photo frames using recycled material like old buttons, CDs, old scraps of cloth material ,twigs etc. They were briefed about the concept of the ‘Three Rs’, namely ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’, in order to keep Mother Earth ‘healthy and happy’.

Class V   In accordance with the theme " Planet Vs Plastic",  Class 5 children  took it upon themselves to spread awareness of the harmful effects that plastic pollution has on the environment with the project of making 'Ecobricks'. Ecobricks are created from plastic bottle waste, which contains the leftovers of plastic waste that is no longer used. The children worked on the project  for about 3 weeks and a total of 105ecobricks were made. The children realised that every little action in eliminating plastic pollution matters and that we all have a role to play .The ecobricks will be used to make a bench in one of the waiting areas of the school  for children to sit.

The celebration helped students assimilate the simple yet clear message that we should keep our environment clean, protect and respect Mother Nature so that its precious resources remain available to us in the future.
