'MATH WEEK' CELEBRATIONS- JUNIOR SCHOOL (23-27 JAN 2023)

Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.”

Mathematics is a way of thinking and gives an insight into the power of human mind. To encourage young learners and to dispel math phobia ‘Math Week’ was celebrated at TAFS junior school from 23 January to 27 January'23.

The purpose of the Math week was to teach the students about basic mathematics in a simple and playful manner. The plethora of activities was planned by the teachers for the students during the week. Teachers specially designed these activities with an aim to enhance observation and analytical skills of the students.

 During this week, the following activities were conducted:

The UKG students did “Hand mapping” activity. They measured different objects like table, chair, bottle, bag and white board etc using their tiny hand span.The aim of this activity was to enhance observation and estimation skills.

Class 1 students participated and enjoyed in “Counting by 10’s” activity and learnt about skip counting with the help of colourful paper caterpillar.

Class2 students enjoyed participating in “Penguin Pals” activity by telling the Addition/subtraction facts about specific two-digit numbers, which challenged their calculation and creative thinking skills.

Class 3 students learnt about the importance of money and various ways to be more selective with their purchases by doing “Bill making” activity.The students engrossed themselves in preparing bills using menu cardswhich challenged their calculation skills.

“Let’s Reflect”activity by students of Class 4 was done in pairs.One student made the design and the partner had to create mirror image(along the line of symmetry)of the design. This activity was a wonderful way to enhance their observation and creative skills.

The students of class 5 did “Area Tower” Activity. They cut square pieces of paper and pasted them in form of a tower using their creative skills. This interesting Hands-on activity was an excellent way to apply the knowledge of area into real life situation.

These week long activities enhanced the thinking and math problem solving skills of the young ones.The Math week was a success in intriguing the students about the exciting world of Mathematics

    A TRIBUTE TO NETAJI SUBHAS CHANDRA BOSE BY SCHOOL STUDENTS

    23 JANUARY 2023

    On 23 January 2023, an online zoom meeting was held by EDUTV India to pay tribute to the courageous freedom fighter and inspirational revolutionary leader “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose”. Two students from schools around India attended the zoom meeting and voiced their opinions about the great freedom fighter and his immense contribution to the Indian society on account of “Parakram Diwas”, the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose.

    Mannat Katyal and Joyce Sarah Kadithala from class IX E attended the same and spoke about Subhas Chandra Bose’s life and highlighted the significance of the contribution of Netaji in the Indian history and freedom struggle. The students learnt about the innumerable sacrifices and selfless contributions made by Netaji from their co-participants. This insight to the legendary life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose became an undiminishing source of inspiration, motivation and encouragement to the children. It was an insightful experience as the students acknowledged the contribution of Netaji and paid tribute to him in the form of pledges and promises to take small yet significant steps toward making India a secular, democratic and developed nation that he dreamt of.

          74TH REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS- JUNIOR SCHOOL

          74th Republic Day Celebrations- junior school

          The 74th Republic Day was celebrated at TAFS junior school with great enthusiasm. The spirit of celebrating this red-letter day was clearly visible in the tricolour painted on the faces of children.

          Various activities were conducted throughout the week to mark this special day. Class UKG made tricolour kites using Origami sheets which represented the freedom of flying high and being still connected to the roots.

          Class 1 made tricolour birds representing freedom, love, strength, happiness and hard work.  Class 2 used orange, white and green colours to make pinwheels each colour symbolizing sacrifice, peace and greenery. These pinwheels not only brought cheerful smile on young tafsians but also  reminded us of our childhood days full of joy and playfulness.

          Class 3 made bookmarks keeping in mind the importance of reading and being an aware citizen of India. Class 4 narrated various Bravery stories of children who were awarded Bal VeertaPuruskar over the years and depicted the same through their drawings in Poster making competition .

          Classes 2 and 5 presented special assemblies which laid stress on this years theme of Jan Bhagidari which means contribution of common man. The assemblies included songs, rhymes and dances on various patriotic songs.

            NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY

            The Air Force School celebrated the National Girl Child Day on 24th January 2023. Various activities were conducted in the school like Poster Making and Essay Writing competition for class 9thand debate competition for class 11th on the topic “Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi”.

            The students expressed their views highlighting the importance of girl child in our society. It was an enriching experience to see the participants express their different interpretations of the topic given. The students participated with great zeal &enthusiasm.
