I CAN FEEL ACTIVITY- CLASS Il

I CAN FEEL ACTIVITY- CLASS Il

     (24 to 28 May 2021)

Our five senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch open the world to us and help us to experience our environment in a complete way. Children that are exposed to tactile learning when they are young, have better learning success in the future.

The sense of touch helps us to gather information about our surroundings through tactile experiences. When we feel something, we get clues about objects around us. Is it wet or dry, hot or cold, rough or smooth, hard or soft?

To explore the sense of touch, an activity based on these tactile clues was organised for students of class II from 24 to 28 May 2021. The activity was put together keeping in mind the lockdown situation and using material available around home. The students made a cut-out of their palms from an A4 sheet. They looked around their house and collected objects representing different textures like soft, hard, smooth, rough, grainy, bumpy etc. They were required to stick these objects on the tips of the palm cut-out. The activity proved to be a fun way to get an understanding for what objects are and what they feel like by experiencing various textures. The students proudly clicked pictures of their creations and sent them to their class teachers.

SANGYA  ANTAKSHARI  ACTIVITY – CLASS III  (17-20 MAY 2021)

Antakshari ( The  game of  the ending letter)is derived from two Sanskrit words: Antya – meaning end + Akshar – meaning letter of the alphabet. In olden times, bhajans or songs were sung and it was continued using the last letter of the ending word.

A 'Sanghya Antakshari' was organised for class 3 students from 17 to 20 May, to help children build Hindi vocabulary and have fun during the process. The students had to think of new 'Sangya' words using the last letter of the previous given word , write it down and draw or paste its picture from old newspapers or magazines. They were required to frame 25 new words in this 'Sanghya Antakshari' chain. This activity helped children use materials easily available at home, find out new Sangya words through an old game played in our country and use their creativity to present the vocabulary chain  beautifully. They did this activity with great enthusiasm and fun.

BEST OUT OF WASTE 'NEWSPAPER BRIDGE'-CLASS IV

                  BEST OUT OF WASTE 'NEWSPAPER BRIDGE'-CLASS IV   (10 – 13 MAY 2021)

“The darkest night is often the bridge to the brightest tomorrow” - Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Once again, our students show us the way, to utilise our limited resources, of making the most of what one has in these difficult times. The task was simple enough, but the results have been spectacular.

Bridges which come in all shapes and sizes and are made of different materials, bridges whose sole purpose is to connect two places separated perhaps by the landscape.

Making models of bridges out of old newspaper, an Art Integrated summer vacation activity was organised for our class IV students from 10th of May to 13th of May 2021. Combining the fine craft of paper rolling and the science of building bridges the students successfully incorporated the aesthetics of bridge building along with the fundamentals of balancing it and minimizing the sagging of the bridge.

These newspaper bridges too have connected us in these trying times and have proven that with support and encouragement from parents and teachers the students can perform well. Full marks to the students on their ingenuity! From placing plastic vehicles on their bridges to colouring them in varied colours, students have excelled in the given task.

‘Puppets can say things that humans can’t-Nina Conti’

Puppetry is an ancient art first recorded in Greece. It encourages story telling through craftsmanship. The students of  Class V engaged in a very creative sock puppet making activity. The activity aimed at designing small puppets to tell a story. Instructions were given to make puppet playmates using a sock, colour paper, buttons, wool etc. The activity was suggested keeping in mind the availability of materials at home.

Under the guidance of their parents, students presented innovative and unique puppets, some denoting themselves and their siblings, the others animal puppets. Some students came up with the idea of a puppet theatre which was quite impressive. This project helped develop visual and kinaesthetic abilities of the students through an ancient art form.
