I SPY- SHAPE HUNT - CLASS II (18 SEP 2020)

“Where there is matter, there is geometry.”
~Johannes Kepler

From rectangular doors to conical caps to circular clocks, shapes are everywhere. Learning about shapes help children to identify and organise visual information. One of the interesting ways to teach children about shapes is organising a game of Shape Hunt.
Learning by playing helps to build a child’s worth by giving him or her a feeling of achievement on successfully completing the task. Games also give  children a sense of adventure and improve upon their problem-solving abilities.

Keeping these things in mind, an adventure game called ‘I spy shapes’ was organised for students of Class II on 18 September 2020. The children were asked to look around their homes and spy for objects which looked like rectangles, triangles and circles. The children made big cut outs of these shapes and then drew the spied objects in their cut outs. These cut-outs were then displayed in their rooms. The children shared the pictures of their creations with their class teachers.

An Origami craft activity was organised for UKG students on 10.9.20. Children had a great time with their teachers as they got an opportunity to play and have fun while folding and pasting the paper to create a house. Paper folding and pasting are incorporated in class activities at early stages as it helps in the fine motor development of the children. MY COSY SPACE, MY TENT- CLASS II (03 SEP 2020)

“Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.”
                ~ Charles R. Swindoll

Children like adults need to have some private space just to be themselves. Making a tent within the room using sheets, blankets, pillows  can turn the room into their fortress where they can spend some quality time with their parents. The child will feel that he has your complete  attention. Children can use this space to find comfort when upset, sad or angry.
A tent can become a creative corner where the kid's imagination can grow. They can read, colour, draw and also engage in some pretend play. Being a cosy alternative to the bed, children can relax in it and also take a nap.

The students of Class II were given such a task to make themselves a private nook on 3rd September. They had to personalize their tents using their favourite pillows and toys. As they clicked their pictures in their private spaces the joy on their faces was too much to be missed. They sent these pictures to their class teachers showing how thrilling and comfortable this activity was!

MY KACHHA HOUSE- ART AND CRAFT ACTIVITY- CLASS I (01 SEP 2020)

An activity to make a Kachcha House  was conducted for class I on 01 September 2020. Enthusiastic participation and innovative results marked the activity. Materials like broomsticks, paper rolls, dried grass, leaves, pieces of wood and jute twine etc were used to make the Kachcha house. This hands-on activity helped the children not only to develop their fine motor skills but also their environmental awareness as most of the children in the cities and towns have rarely seen a Kachcha house or a tribal hut in a village.

The activity also helped them to experiment with a variety of materials creatively.
