TASTY AND HEALTHY TREATS FOR LOCKDOWN : CLASS V EVS ACTIVITY

TASTY AND HEALTHY TREATS FOR LOCKDOWN

    (CLASS V EVS ACTIVITY- 28 APRIL 2020)

Cooking, like reading and writing is an important life skill and the kitchen, a great place of learning for children. With our children now all cooped up indoors, involving them in the kitchen will develop the skills they will need to plan and cook healthy meals throughout their lives. It will also help many overcome picky- eating as it generates curiosity in them. So even the fussiest of eaters will not hesitate  to try something new!
The children of Class V put on their chef hats on 28 April 2020 and tried to stir up some magic in their homes, as part of their EVS activity for the day. The results were some of these healthy and tasty treats which they relished with their family members during this lockdown.
On the platter was Happy garden rolls, Fruit Delight, Tri-colour Sandwich, Peanut butter Canopies,Pink Coco Berry, Cheese Crackers, Veggie Delight, Biscuit Sandwich, Biscuit pizza, Roti with a smiley twist, Fruity cups, Healthy Salads and  much more. The pictures sent in by the parents are a visual delight and every dish looks like a great appetiser.
This cooking activity proved to be a wonderful way of children expressing themselves and also enjoying what they created. It was aimed at inspiring children to start appreciating nutritious home cooked meals and to emphasize the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. They were asked to share pictures and their experience with their cousins and friends so as to inspire as many as they can towards healthy eating.
Cooking regularly will teach children about planning and making choices that will always hold them in good stead.

        EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS- CLASSES I-V

EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS- CLASSES I-V (22 APRIL 2020)

TAFS Junior Wing for the first time celebrated Digital Earth Day on 22nd April 2020, as an indoors awareness activity. We celebrated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day by participating in varied activities.

The students of classes I-III did an art and craft activity followed by a writing exercise on the little promises they made  on this special occasion. Each child  penned down a promise that they made to mother Earth for their better future. They also learnt and sang a few songs on earth, conservation and natural resources.

Children of classes IV & V made posters, wrote slogans and sang songs and poems to create awareness among their family members. They also tried to connect with their extended family and friends over electronic media to make their point in the significance of conservation of earth.

Parents were requested to talk to their children about the importance and purpose of this day, that the Earth day reminds us of the important role we need to play in taking care of our planet whether it is planting more trees, recycling or repurposing. Children were also made aware about how our Earth has started healing in the absence of human influence on environment due to virus related restrictions these days.
