In order to celebrate our survival on earth and to honour the Mother Nature, the school celebrated earth day on 8th May 2014 in Aravalli Halls. The programme commenced with a choir performance by students. It was followed by a street play in which the students highlighted the plights and pleas of the mother earth.  In addition to it, a video depicting the carelessness of the most intelligent species of human beings made students aware of the fact that the negligence of human beings can lead to disastrous consequences. Furthermore, a student delivered a speech on the history of earth day and its relevance in today’s scenario. Poetry says more in fewer words. Guided by this fact, a student recited a poem in English. Highlighting the imbalance created by the reckless cutting of trees, the students presented another skit to spread awareness among the masses. It was followed by a short prize distribution ceremony in which the winners of the poster making competition held a day before the celebrations were honoured.  The Principal of the school, Ms. Deepika Thapar Singh addressed the gathering with her profound words. The Vice Principal, Ms. Amita Gupta congratulated all the winners and the participants with her encouraging words. The event concluded with National anthem. A video on the concept of ‘Go Green’ was played while the students were dispersing from the venue.

        Visit to Goonj (NGO)

On 7 May 2014, 27 members of the I-care club, visited to the NGO Goonj. A voice, an effort to help the underprivileged.

Our students also donated a few things and learnt how to reuse the waste or unused products. Goonj is one of the few organizations in the world, constructively reviving and strengthening rural volunteerism, to solve its own problems. The students of TAFS were overwhelmed by the extent of hardwork, innovation organization and thought involved with their school to school campaign.

They came back with a vision that the "so called waste" can be redesigned by innovative ideas and marketed and reused constructively. An urban school can support an entire village just by providing them with new ideas about how to redesign discarded cloths into various useful items and support its own economy converting An over-sized jeans can be converted into useful bags with the back-pocket of the jeans made into mobile holder of the bag.

It was a valuable visit, an eye opener for the TAFS I-care team. We thank our respected ma’am for providing us with such a wonderful opportunity to open up and expand our vision.
