EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS- JUNIOR SCHOOL (20-22 APRIL 2022)
Small efforts can make a BIG difference.
Knowing that each one of us can do something, albeit small, will make us saviours of our one and only home, the planet Earth. Like every year, the children of our school celebrated Earth Day 2022 on 22 April with a pledge of honour to respect and protect Mother Earth. From 20 Apr to 22 Apr 2022, all students participated in activities which highlighted the concerns surrounding the environment and poured in their creativity by setting examples to make people understand the dire situation. Keeping in mind the theme for this year’s International Mother Earth Day, ‘Invest in our Planet’, the children showed how small ideas and little thoughts can help save our earth. The children not only became aware of the degrading situation, but also learnt about ways to stop it by participating in art and craft activities which served the multiple purposes of fun, creativity, awareness, learning and values.
Class UKG – The tiny tots with their tiny hands did leaf printing on paper, all the while, learning about the greener part of nature and the importance of trees and plants.
Class 1 – These little ones put their hearts down on paper by sticking a coloured heart-shaped cut-out on a-4 sheets and wrote ‘’I love my Earth’’ and promised to do so.
Class 2 – The children made posters with captions and slogans urging one and all to fight against the destruction of earth by saving water and trees, planting more trees and stopping pollution.
Class 3 – The children imprinted their painted hand on a drawing sheet and wrote ‘’I have the whole planet in my hand’’, thereby pledging their commitment to care for and save earth.
Class 4 – The children decided to make the best out of waste by creating various useful items from discarded resources. They made pencil and tissue paper holders, bird feeders, pots, fans and clocks. They also went on a Nature Walk and performed skits to raise awareness among all to follow the 3’R’s i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Class 5 – The children made paper bags out of old newspapers and pledged to be more responsible by using only biodegradable products and also encourage others to do so. They also pledged to refuse use of plastics.
Let’s be wise for a better future. Sustainability is the way to survival.
