PREVENTION OF HEAT RELATED ILLNESS (HRI)

POSTER MAKING ACTIVITY (07 MAY 2024)

A heat wave sometimes described as extreme heat, is a period of abnormally hot weather.

As the mercury rises, this summer, it’s extremely important for everyone to take proactive measures to keep themselves safe from the adverse effects of the heat waves,

as they can pose significant health hazards ranging from mild discomfort to severe heat-related illnesses. As per the directive of the DOE, teachers and children should be aware of measures to be taken to prevent a heat stroke or severe heat exhaustion in schools.

In view of the above, the teachers of the Junior wing, TAFS explained to the children about the potential health implications of the impending heatwaves and how we can take care of ourselves. Children of Class V made posters in class on 07 May 2024, highlighting the precautions to be taken to navigate through the sweltering summer months ahead. In the posters they showed how we must adapt our diet and hydration habits to stay cool, nourish our bodies with the right food and beverages, keep drinking water especially if outdoors or performing physical activity, wear light and loose-fitting clothing, limit outdoor activities etc. The posters were displayed in each classroom for the younger children to see and understand how to beat the heat and stay healthy.

        MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION REPORT

        6-7 MAY 2024

Since God can’t be present everywhere, so He created mothers

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers as well as motherhood & the maternal bond. The bond of a mother and a child is inexplicable & to celebrate this everlasting bond of love and affection our young TAFSians made creative cards for their mothers.

Our enthusiastic and adorable kindergarteners made a beautiful card with the cutout of their hand imprints decorating it with flowers and a love note for their mothers.

The amazing Class I children made creative glow worm cards with thumb prints and a heartfelt message written at the card’s back.

Our bubbly class II children went beyond imagination and created a heart shaped card which opens up into a flower attached to a paper straw.

Through these cards they expressed their gratitude and affection towards their mother. They also sang and danced on the songs dedicated to their mothers

Throughout the week, students across various classes engaged in a diverse range of activities that highlighted the practical applications of science, encouraged creativity, and promoted awareness in science.

Class VI, students explored scientific concepts through colorful and informative comic strips, offering a unique perspective on understanding key principles.

Meanwhile, Class VII students ventured "Beyond the Lab" by creating greeting cards using plant materials as stamps, incorporating elements of nature into their scientific illustrations.

Class VIII students embraced creativity with a fun Pictionary activity, using scientific themes and concepts to express their imagination on paper.

Class IX, students combined science and art by designing a science magazine filled with articles, stories, and poems that enriched their understanding of various scientific topics.

To boost self-expression and confidence, Class X students participated in a "Chem-Toon" activity, where they used scientific concepts and tools to create imaginative cartoons during their science period.

The Science Week festivities at The Air Force School exemplified the institution's commitment to nurturing scientific curiosity, environmental consciousness, and creativity among its students. These engaging activities provided hands-on scientific exploration, encouraging students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of science beyond traditional textbooks.
