Dear Parents
"Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana"
(KVPY) is a program started by the Department of Science and Technology (DST),
Government of India to encourage students to take up research careers in
Science.
Students of standard XI and XII (Science Subjects) who have secured a
minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE
subjects in the X Standard are eligible to apply (CGPA can be converted in to
appropriate percentage).
Scholarship of approximately
60,000 per year up to pre Ph.D. is awarded to the students clearing KVPY.
Each
KVPY Fellow will be issued with an Identity card so as to have access to
renowned National laboratories/ Universities.
Summer
programmes are also organized for the KVPY fellows at Indian Institute for
Science Education and Research (IISER) - Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and
Trivandrum where they spend one or two weeks and got a chance to interact with
scientists, watch them at work, see things in a research environment, listen to
lectures by experts of different fields, exchange views and interact with other
research students.
There is a participation fees of
rupees 1000/- for this exam.
There
is no prescribed syllabus for the written test. The written test aims to test
the understanding and analytical ability of the student than his/her factual
knowledge. However, students are tested for the syllabus up to class XII.
After
scrutiny of applications forms, based on the performance in the Board
Examination, all the eligible students will be called for a online aptitude
test at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 1st November, 2015. The details of the venue of
the aptitude test for the eligible students and their seat number will be
published in the KVPY website during the first week of October 2015.
Those
interested should get their mark sheet attested from the school and apply
online latest by 30th August.
