Air Marshal Arup Raha, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Ms Lily Raha, Vice President AFWWA and other distinguished dignitaries graced the 58^th Annual Day celebration at TAFS on 22 Nov 2013.

The theme was “Hum.. Ek Ehsaas Ek Dhun.. Togetherness : the Indian melody.”

After the traditional lighting of the lamp, the Annual report was presented, opening a window into the achievements of the Junior and the Senior school. This was followed with Sursamagrah : A Potpourri of Vocalists and Instrumentalists. The welcome dance Suryashtakam by the primary children set the tone for the evening. This was followed by prize distribution and the highlight – the Dance Drama bringing alive the versatile culture of India through dance and music.

In his address to the students, Air Marshal Arup Raha, recalled his long association with the school and expressed pride in the progress made over the years.

The Principal expressed hope that the effort to expose students to both curricular and co-curricular activities would make them stronger individuals.

The evening ended with the singing of the Air Force Schools’ Song.

CBSE has divided all the public schools of the country in 16 different clusters. Our school represents cluster No XII (Delhi Region). Winner and runners-up team of each class get the chance of playing in the CBSE National Championship every year. Our school being the champion of cluster XII participated in the tournament which was organized at Narmada Devi Singhania International School, Distt Jhunjhnu, Rajasthan from 12-17 Nov 2013 alongwith Four Foreign CBSE school teams from Gulf countries. TAFS emerged as the champion of the CBSE National Football tournament 2013, Mayel Lapcha and Albert of our school were adjudged as the Best players of the tournament.

Children’s Day was celebrated, on 14 Nov 2013, in the Junior School. The teachers organized a special morning assembly which included a medley of songs as well as a dance performance by the teachers and fond remembrance of Chacha Nehru . The day was filled with fun, frolic and enthusiasm. The special colourful board and the cutouts of toffees and ice creams hanging on strings from the roof, at the foyer of the school, were some of the main attractions for the children. In order to make the entire day special some outdoor fun games and activities were also organised. ‘The Smurfs’, a children’s entertainment movie was showcased in the classrooms. The children enjoyed having their ‘Perks’ too on this special day. The day was indeed a joyful and fun filled one for the little ones here.

The Annual Prize Distribution ceremony for classes IX,X,XI,XII was held in the Air Force Auditorium on Friday, 1^st Nov 2013. Mrs Deepika Thapar Singh, Principal The Air Force School welcomed the chief guest Mrs Suman Nath Principal, Tagore International School, East of Kailash and laid stress on the cooperation and support given by the parents for the overall development of their wards. The guest of honour Mam Suman Nath encouraged the students emphasizing on creating good values and the ability to prioritise. She appreciated the efforts of prize winners and motivated them to continue to find time and excel.

Students were awarded for their performance in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. 18 meritorious students of class IX & X received trophies for securing CGPA-9.6 and above. 44 students of class XI & XII, subject toppers in their various subjects also received books & certificates. A special mention was made of 85 students who scored 95% in English. 18 special prizes were given for painting, sculpture, music, dance and journalism.

The programme started with lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests, followed by a short cultural programme which included a group song and a dance. The programme ended with the rendering of the Air Force Schools’ Song.
