32nd VASANT VALLEY DRAMA FESTIVAL 2023

32nd VASANT VALLEY DRAMA FESTIVAL 2023

The Vasant Valley School Drama Festival is an eagerly awaited event every year. It provides a wonderful opportunity for children of Class 5 from different schools of the NCR to come together on a common platform and showcase their ability to create and stage their own play around a given theme.

This year too, 12 children from Class 5 of TAFS(Junior Wing) participated in the event on 23 Aug 2023 at Vasant Valley School and put up a wonderful play on the theme, ‘Myths of the Jungle”. The storyline was a captivating narrative of how the hippo came to have a short tail and was aptly titled, “Tale of a tail- मच्छरों की लहर, हेनरी पर कहर" . Children greatly enjoyed the whole creative process of writing the dialogues themselves, preparing their costumes and other props required for the act and improvising the various scenes.

It was a great experience for them to be on stage and earn the accolades of the audience who were enthralled by their impressive and impactful performance.

‘The Rhythm Of Rain Showers’ Celebrating Monsoons

“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down.
Without the rain, there will be no rainbow”Gilbert K.Chesterton

Rains are awaited by all, but rains for children mean a day full of fun, jumping in puddles, holding umbrellas, playing with paper boats and dancing in monsoon showers forgetting all their worries.

Monsoon revives our souls and fills the surroundings with the beauty of fresh greenery. To express gratitude for this blessed gift of naturea range of activities were organised for students of classes (UKG - 2) during the week (21-25August 2023).

The students of class KG were thrilled to see their teachers demonstrate how to make colourful origami boats. The children had a great time as they got an opportunity to play and have fun while folding and pasting the paper to create a colourful paper boat.  Their happiness was evident in the lovely origami boats they made.

Students of class I did the activity “My Pretty Peacock “during the monsoon week celebrations. As they learned about their national bird, they created their own peacocks using the technique of hand printing. It was a delightful sight to see them enjoying the activity.

Keeping the concept of the magic of colours in mind, the students of class II did the activity “My Pretty Umbrella”. They made their own colourful umbrellas. They are ready with their umbrellas to welcome the rain showers with bright smiles and enjoy the pinpricks of raindrops on their face. They also celebrated the miracles of monsoon through various rhymes and songs.

The students displayed a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm as they prepared to take on these wonderful activities during this week-long celebration. A lot of learninghappened during these fun-filled activities just by doing!

We all live in the world which is constantly striving for perfection and has evolved in a manner that it favours survival of the fittest. In order to familiarize children with the inbuilt capacity which resides within us, a remarkable effort of students of ‘We-Care’ club was put into practice which was a visit to Umeed, a vocational training centre for children with special needs on Wednesday, 16 August 2023.

Before the visit, students were involved in making smiley badges, to be given to their new friends at Umeed. Students prepared a dance sequence to cheer everyone up and also organized various fun & interactive games. As a token of gratitude various ‘Thankyou’ cards were also created by students & handed over.

Through this mutually symbiotic visit unconditional love was spread & unbiased relationships were built between students of Umeed & TAFS. Efforts were further encouraged by exchanging sweets with each other. It was a profound opportunity for our students to look beneath the surface & find the inner beauty that resides within.

A special assembly presented by class II C was not only enjoyed by the children but also helped them learn more about their responsibilities. Various hands-on activities were planned for classes UKG- II keeping in mind the feeling of patriotism and  an opportunity for experiential learning. The activity of each and every child was  displayed in the school premises to instill in them the feeling of belongingness and oneness.

Class UKG did "Finger Printing Activity" to make tricolour badges. Class l and II made tricolour kites using paper tearing and pasting and  tricolour hand bands respectively.

The young Tafsians of class IV enthralled the audience with their spectacular stage performance, a dance drama, on 11 August. The great leaders of our country like Vallabhbhai Patel, Jyotiba Bai Phule and Subhash Chandra Bose were portrayed by the young students along with Vande Matram song.

The whole performance was an amalgam of the progressive ideas like Education for all including adult education, girls empowerment, importance of conservation of nature and core idea of our country i.e., unity in diversity. 76th INDEPENDENCE DAY 2023-24

11 August 2023, saw a new dawn as the precincts of The Air Force School glowed with splendor and pride in the wake of the 76th Independence Day celebration. Colors of saffron, green, white and blue permeated the air and environs with an indelible stamp of national pride. The fifteenth of August marks India’s liberation from the oppression of foreign rule. As our nation steps into the 76th year of freedom from the shackles of British reign, Indians take pride in how far this great nation has come.

We bow our heads in reverence of our martyrs and late national leaders who laid their lives so that we could breathe the air of a free country.

To celebrate this day and to remember this spirit of sacrifice, the students and staff of The Air Force School, came together to commemorate 76 glorious years of freedom. We too are living beings! Tigers are one of the species that are nearing extinction. Therefore, to spread awareness on tiger conservation, International Tiger Day or Global Tiger day is celebrated on July 29. It is a way to spread awareness about this magnificient but endangered big cat.

Tiger day celebration at TAFS aimed to sensitize students about the critical need to protect tigers. On this occasion, studentsof UKG made creative headbands of tiger. Our talented children really enjoyed the activity and were actively involved during the entire process of the making of the headband.

The children of grade 1 also participated enthusiastically in Tiger Day Celebration by making masks of tiger. The children enjoyed colouring and pasting activity on the cut outs of tiger's face. It also exercised their kinesthetic and interpersonal skills. The significance of the connection between wildlife and people at large was explained to the children during discussion.

The celebration of Global Tiger Day thus contributed to create new awareness about promoting a global ecosystem for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to make our future generation kind toward animals.
