32nd VASANT VALLEY DRAMA FESTIVAL 2023

The Vasant Valley School Drama Festival is an eagerly awaited event every year. It provides a wonderful opportunity for children of Class 5 from different schools of the NCR to come together on a common platform and showcase their ability to create and stage their own play around a given theme.

This year too, 12 children from Class 5 of TAFS(Junior Wing) participated in the event on 23 Aug 2023 at Vasant Valley School and put up a wonderful play on the theme, ‘Myths of the Jungle”. The storyline was a captivating narrative of how the hippo came to have a short tail and was aptly titled, “Tale of a tail- मच्छरों की लहर, हेनरी पर कहर" . Children greatly enjoyed the whole creative process of writing the dialogues themselves, preparing their costumes and other props required for the act and improvising the various scenes.

It was a great experience for them to be on stage and earn the accolades of the audience who were enthralled by their impressive and impactful performance.

‘The Rhythm Of Rain Showers’ Celebrating Monsoons

‘The Rhythm Of Rain Showers’ Celebrating Monsoons

“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down.
Without the rain, there will be no rainbow”Gilbert K.Chesterton

Rains are awaited by all, but rains for children mean a day full of fun, jumping in puddles, holding umbrellas, playing with paper boats and dancing in monsoon showers forgetting all their worries.

Monsoon revives our souls and fills the surroundings with the beauty of fresh greenery. To express gratitude for this blessed gift of naturea range of activities were organised for students of classes (UKG - 2) during the week (21-25August 2023).

The students of class KG were thrilled to see their teachers demonstrate how to make colourful origami boats. The children had a great time as they got an opportunity to play and have fun while folding and pasting the paper to create a colourful paper boat.  Their happiness was evident in the lovely origami boats they made.

Students of class I did the activity “My Pretty Peacock “during the monsoon week celebrations. As they learned about their national bird, they created their own peacocks using the technique of hand printing. It was a delightful sight to see them enjoying the activity.

Keeping the concept of the magic of colours in mind, the students of class II did the activity “My Pretty Umbrella”. They made their own colourful umbrellas. They are ready with their umbrellas to welcome the rain showers with bright smiles and enjoy the pinpricks of raindrops on their face. They also celebrated the miracles of monsoon through various rhymes and songs.

The students displayed a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm as they prepared to take on these wonderful activities during this week-long celebration. A lot of learninghappened during these fun-filled activities just by doing!

We all live in the world which is constantly striving for perfection and has evolved in a manner that it favours survival of the fittest. In order to familiarize children with the inbuilt capacity which resides within us, a remarkable effort of students of ‘We-Care’ club was put into practice which was a visit to Umeed, a vocational training centre for children with special needs on Wednesday, 16 August 2023.

Before the visit, students were involved in making smiley badges, to be given to their new friends at Umeed. Students prepared a dance sequence to cheer everyone up and also organized various fun & interactive games. As a token of gratitude various ‘Thankyou’ cards were also created by students & handed over.

Through this mutually symbiotic visit unconditional love was spread & unbiased relationships were built between students of Umeed & TAFS. Efforts were further encouraged by exchanging sweets with each other. It was a profound opportunity for our students to look beneath the surface & find the inner beauty that resides within.

Every year, in the monsoon season, Delhi sees a rise in dengue cases.
It is crucial to take preventive steps , in order to protect ourselves and the children, as much as possible.

Some of the preventive steps which can be taken are:
                                                            1. Check regularly and empty the containers that can collect water like flower vases, empty pots etc.
                                                            2. Use mosquito repellant creams, patches, lotions etc.
                                                            3. Wear protective clothing like full sleeves, long pants etc.
                                                            4. Stay informed about dengue outbreaks in the community.
                                                            5. Seek medical attention early at onset of symptoms.

We are also taking all precautionary measures, at school, to ensure that there is no mosquito breeding in the school premises. Regular spraying of mosquito repellent and fumigation is undertaken in all areas of the school campus.

Also in case dengue is diagnosed please inform the class teacher at the earliest.

The Junior Wing of The Air Force School organised its Investiture Ceremony for the session 2023-2024 on 07 Aug 2023 in the presence of guests, Principal, parents and students. The Chief Guest, Wg. Cdr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Executive Director, TAFS, lit the ceremonial lamp, with the junior choir reciting auspicious shlokas to invoke blessings of the divine. A beautiful painting was presented to the chief guest by our students, expressing our love and gratitude. The guests, parents and students were welcomed by the Headmistress, Ms. Deepa Radhakrishnan.

The emcees for the programme kept the proceedings running smoothly. Keeping in mind the sentiments of our country and its place in the world, a heart-warming song, ‘Vasudha ko ek kutumb banaye’, was delivered passionately by the musically gifted children of our school. This was followed by a traditional and ethnic folk dance on the popular Kumaoni song ‘Bedu Pako Baramasa’, performed elegantly by the students of Class 4. They captivated the audience with their deft moves and cultural costumes.

The newly formed Student Council members took their positions respectively on stage while the oath of appointment was administered to them by the chief guest, Wg. Cdr. Manoj Kumar Yadav. Subsequently, the chief guest congratulated the newly elected Council members and urged the students to unlock their potential and strive in their duties as young leaders with a positive mindset and spirit of team work.
