SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK (17-21 APRIL 2023)

SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK

"The social sciences have a critical contribution to make - in helping us understand, imagine and craft a more sustainable future for all."

Learning becomes tenfold enjoyable when we have fun in the process. In order to make studies a fruitful yet joyous experience, The Air Force School organised a Social Science week from 17 April 2023 to 21 April 2023 that included tons of fun activities for the tender minds of classes VI to X.

India is widely celebrated for her Unity in Diversity. Following this, students of class VI were given the task of preparing any folk song or dance to represent the multiformity of our country.

Education is incomplete without a close of creativity and authenticity. As part of the event, students of class VII consequently advocated against social evils by preparing a graphic strip, discouraging superstitions prevalent in the country.

'One earth, one family, one future' - this motto quite literally illustrates the theme of G-20 2023, presided by our homeland, India. To mark this huge milestone, students of class IX were encouraged to prepare a travelogue of any two countries participating in G-20 Summit of 2023.

Imagination is the soil that brings dreams to life - this was likely the quote that drove the young entrepreneurs of Class X to put forth their unique ideas on setting up a business. The idea of their very own Shark Tank had the students bubbling with excitement.

The success of the week marked to show how Social Science can help in raising the awareness of students about issues related  to their daily lives as well as the vast diversity of the world.

ADVISORY FOR PARENTS : REVISION OF AGE CRITERIA

ADVISORY FOR PARENTS : REVISION OF AGE CRITERIA

                  1. The NEP-2020 envisaged change in age criteria for entry level admissions. Accordingly, age for admission to class-I, UKG and LKG has been increased from 05 to 06 years, 04 to 05 years and 03 to 04 years respectively. These changes have been implemented by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in KVs across the country, from AY 2022-23, besides various other schools in majority of the States. The ibid changes have also been implemented at Unit run AFS Schools from AY 2023-24.

                  1. However, the age criteria for entry level class (UKG) followed at the three Delhi bases Schools viz AFBBS, TAFS and AFGJI is governed by the guidelines issued by the Dte of Edn (DOE), GNCTD. As per the latest admission guidelines issued by the DOE vide Circular No .F.DE.15(172)/PSB/2016/9483-9492 dated 21 Nov 22, the age criteria for admission in various entry level classes remains unchanged.

                  1. As the age criteria prescribed by DOE regulated schools is different than that followed by KVs and other Unit run AF Schools pan India, it may subsequently affect the admissions on transfer from DOE regulated schools to KVs/other Unit run AF Schools. Hence, parents whose wards have taken admission in AFBBS/TAFS/AFGJI in class UKG in AY 2023-24 are intimated of the issue and its impact on continued education in the event of transfer to any other school not governed by DOE.
