In this webinar, curriculum integrated ideas for students were discussed.
1.Story telling as a pedagogy has been recommended for the foundational years and it is important to incorporate the same in the integrated curriculum. For children, stories act as a portal to the world and they find it always captivating and enchanting. Stories therefore are an excellent medium to instil knowledge about our culture and tradition
2.Various ways to narrate stories through Indian art forms were very well explained so as to captivate the attention of young kids. (like story narration through Pattachitra, Kaavad, puppetry and drama)
3. Demonstrations of different types of stories like Russian folk tale, Panchatantra were beautifully done to depict our rich culture.
4. Things a teacher can do to become a story teller:
Read as many different world folk tales, fables, myths and legends as u can
. Get yourself a prop box
. Puppets can be really helpful as they make session interesting
It was indeed an enriching and enlightening webinar, prompting us teachers to incorporate more story telling techniques into our own teaching methodology.
